CHAPTER 7: If You Ever Felt Wronged

So my plan was this, get Mikey to mess with the supplies used to print out the newspapers. Whenever the newspaper is publishing a new issue they always give you a preview of its contents during the daily announcements. Mikey will also fuck with that. I just had to figure out how. Prom was in two days and we had to act fast.
"You sure this will work?" Gerard was having second thoughts.
"How else will he print it all out?" Mikey asked answering his question.
"He does have a photograph, Mikes."Gerard was getting worried.
"Hey, don't worry I got your backs. Though I don't know what this is all about."
"Just go." Gerard shoved us into the room. We looked around.
Mikey was good at technical stuff, I was good at mechanics. He handed me a wrench and I slid under the printer. "Just unscrew a few things. Ya know James hasn't said anything about his article beyond 'It's the article of the year.'" He grabbed the newspaper and some other things. "Do you think he'll have this photograph with him at all times?" I gave him a look." Okay, okay. I'll take that as a yes. But there are other ways of getting this out there. I don't know how we can stop him." I had another idea.
"Frankie's having an epiphany." I said plainly.
"What?"He said dropping what he was doing. I got up but bumped my head.
"Oww" I rubbed my head. "I have a better idea." I went back under the printer and started to fix it.
"Frank? Frankie? What new idea?" He was clueless.
"I'm going to let James write the article." His mouth dropped open. I whispered him my plan and he grinned.
"That was fast." Gerard said as we ran out the door. "What's the rush?"
"Change of plans." Mikey said.
"Oh no. Frank what are you up to now?" He asked sarcastically and I laughed.
"The announcements start in five minutes."Gerard said as we rushed to homeroom. "You know what to do Mikey."
"Frank, get writing. We need that article by the end of the day." Mikey turned the corner and left us.
"What are you guys up to?"
"If James writes a lie, no one will believe him if he says anything about us."
"Must I remind you Frank? He has a picture of us." He was urgent.
"Had a picture of us." I took the folded paper out of my back pocket and held it up.
"I love you so much I could kiss you." He was relieved and upbeat.
"Save that for when people aren't around." I joked and he laughed.
In homeroom I was shifting uncomfortably. "And our last writer of Belleville High's school newspaper, James McGlocklin."
"Students and faculty I have a story for you…" He started off.
"Come on Mikey!" I thought fidgeting in my seat.
"What I have is a story so real about-"
"I'm okay, I'm okaaaaaaaaaaay, I'm okay now (I'm okay now) well you really need to listen to me…" Our song played and the class burst out laughing. Mikey had put the recording on in the principal's office just in time to stop James. But of course James didn't know this was going on because he couldn't hear it and he was in the main office. Mikey turned the loud speaker back to him
"… And that my fellow peers is just a preview in this big scandal. Thank you and have a nice day." The class was still laughing uncontrollably while Mrs. Karman was trying to calm them.

"That was priceless, Mikey." Bob said at lunch still laughing.
Mikey bowed. "Thank you, thank you. Hey Frankie you have that article?'
I handed it to him. "Typed it all up in homeroom."
"Newspaper gets put together this afternoon. We need a distraction." We all stared at Bob.
"Oh no. I don't think so. Why me?" He protested.
"Because the kid has a crush on you're older sister for years. All you have to do is get talking to him, lead him into the team room and close the door." I said to him and he gave me a look. I'll come with you."
"Then what's the point of me doing it?" He asked in protest.
"Just go along with it." Ray said and Bob sighed.
Everything was set. We just had to rely on everyone else to not believe him once our little lie gets around. I was more worried about my secret then getting caught.
